These qualifications will give you the edge over other instructors. You will be expertly trained in both disciplines over the season — a valuable asset to any ski school.

Due to some ski schools’ reluctance to employ solo snowboard qualified instructors, it is becoming more essential to nail both qualifications. Therefore, the dual instructor course at SIA Austria is ideal for those snowboarders who need to perfect their skiing teaching skills and visa versa. FAQs

The movements required in both snowboarding and skiing are very similar. As a result, it is not too difficult to strengthen up the weaker of the two. We can bring you up to the level required in a relatively short period of time with our dual instructor course, and guarantee you an instructor job for the full season in Austria!

Our course is split into three phases.

Phase 1 – You will train and qualify as a level 2 instructor in your first discipline, you can choose to start with skiing or snowboarding. Ask our advice for which will suit you best.

Phase 2 – You head straight to your ski school to work as an instructor, earn some well deserved cash, and put your new skills to the test on the slopes.

Phase 3 – You will return to your training program to gain your level 2 qualification in the second discipline, rounding off an awesome season on the slopes and elevating you to Dual Status!

If there’s still time (and snow), then you can return to your ski school to finish off the season with more instructor duties and show off your new licence!

Are you a beginner, very weak or just a little rusty? No problem! You can still do this course by adding one of our Beginner or Improver Clinics to your Dual Course. These clinics are available in both skiing and snowboarding and they will bring you up to speed ready for your instructor training. You should be proficient in one discipline!

During your dual instructor course, you will be taught some German language basics. Even though approx. 75% of our students have never spoken German before, we proudly achieved a 99% pass rate for the language theory last season!

Your Dual Instructor Course can also be combined with the Landes 1 (level 3 – part 1) Ski Qualification. Check out our 23 week Ultimate Course for details.

Over the years, we have carefully monitored the needs and demands of ski schools around the world to understand which qualifications and licences we should be including in our courses.

As many of our students want to be able to enjoy using the qualification they gain, it seems obvious that a training company should focus on this and be confident that it can supply an employment opportunity to a graduate of its courses.

Ski Instructor Academy is fully aware that people may want to have a financial return after a course and openly explain what this means in a first season in a ski school.

Our long standing reputation with ski schools throughout Austria, Japan and Canada of supplying quality ski and snowboard instructors means we are able to guarantee positions to successful participants. (subject to terms and conditions)

There are many variables that will affect both your work and your subsequent wage, such as snow conditions during the season, the economic climate, how mature and diligent you are as a worker, what qualification you hold and which ski school you work for.

AUSTRIA: the contract you have will give you a standard monthly wage for Level 2 instructors of €1.000 – €1.200 and with tax, health care, pension contributions deducted you may have cash in your hand of €700 – €1.000 per month.

If you work well and are reliable, your ski school will reward you with steady work. If you are unreliable, don’t present yourself well or appear more interested in partying than working, then the ski school will prioritise work to other instructors. Ski schools will always favour instructors who are motivated and professional and avoid using poor workers except for very busy periods when they are desperate for staff.

Remember, what may be a gap year or season of fun for you is a professional business for your employer.

You will be taxed in Austria but you may apply to have that tax refunded if you did not exceed the tax band in your own country.

You must be a minimum of 16 years old before you arrive into resort on our Austrian Courses.

Although SIA courses are amongst the largest in the World, we manage to maintain very intimate training groups of between 4 and 8, but with no more than 8:1 students per trainer in Austria, Argentina and France and 10:1 in Canada. This allows us to match similar ability levels per group and means no student should ever feel as if they are falling behind, or being held back because of the group they are in.

We have various options for accommodation on our courses, all of which are very comfortable. We use a combination of shared apartments, houses and chalets. There are options to to include a single room, half board meals or both! (subject to availability and supplement). See our Accommodation page for more details on your options.

YES! As an instructor, ski schools will offer you subsidised staff housing as part of your employment contract. This is generally basic living, but a fun and very social environment with your fellow instructors and not to mention a very cheap way of living in a ski resort, with most ski schools only charging between €4 and €10 per day.

Note: If your course does not include a Job Guarantee or you do not wish to take up your position then accommodation will only be included during your course dates.

Sure! We love it when friends come together and share this amazing experience – after all sharing is caring! We can make sure you live together and also work in the same ski school together too so you can enjoy the time and make memories forever… just be sure to let us know who you’re travelling with.

We are so confident that we offer the very best value courses in the industry that we have an SIA Price Guarantee. We pride ourselves that we offer more training, higher quality coaching, better off-hill programs and more fun aprés events than any other course.

That’s why if you find a better value comparable course anywhere, not only will we match the course cost, but we will also give you an additional €100 off your course fees for good measure!
