If I could go back and do it all again I would, without a doubt! Apart from the extreme goggle tan I went home with, there wasn’t any negatives. The instructors, people and area were amazing, even if you aren’t a great skier or haven’t skied at all go for it, that’s what I did and I now can proudly say I have my Landes one qualification.
Absolutely life changing! When I first arrived I was quite unsure of what to expect, coming from a small town in the UK and feeling really nervous. The course exceeded anything I could of ever dreamed of; meeting what are now my best friends and spending 3 months living the ski dream!
I had the BEST time of my life becoming an instructor with SIA!! Didn’t know how to ski when I got there, had the strongest passion imaginable for skiing six weeks later!!
Minus the time I fought and defeated the Amazonian gorilla king this is definitely the best thing I’ve ever done!”

We have introduced the Zell am See – Kaprun Internship to offer peace of mind and full season security – it is our safest route to a full season on the slopes!
All Ski School businesses react and change to how the season is going, whether it be snow conditions, tourism, ski school bookings or other factors. The first place they look to cut costs is with staffing costs. It is not unusual for ski instructors to be laid off for days, weeks or even in extreme cases a month during off-peak periods or if the ski school doesn’t have enough work.
When this happens, instructors are faced with a tough choice; 1. wait it out and hope to be reinstated or 2. leave the resort for another ski area or worse, return home and end the season prematurely. If they choose to stay in resort, the ski school will generally increase the cost of staff housing as they will no longer subsidise it if you aren’t employed at that time (often x2 or x3 the cost). This can mean more outgoing costs, with less income!
The Zell am See – Kaprun Internship removes this risk. Accommodation is included in your course fees for a full 22 week period, meaning whether the ski school has peak and off peak periods won’t affect your season. Firstly, you will become an easy access instructor for ski schools, with your own accommodation and ski pass they can call on you anytime during the season without having to commit themselves financially to supporting you – this is a huge bonus to ski school owners.
It also means that everything you earn as an instructor will be yours to keep, as there will be no staff housing deductions from your pay check – plus, any days you do get off during the season can be enjoyed free riding in one of the largest ski areas in the world!!
The Anwärter level will see you able to teach a huge variety of lessons from beginner to intermediate, private lessons to groups to all ages meaning every day is a new challenge throughout your season.
Not right now, but you will be taught the very basics of the language during a combination of ski training and fun online lessons to get you through the ski exams. We are proud to boast a 100% pass rate for the language theory last season, and over 75% of our students have never spoken German before!
You will get access to our online language tutorials once you are booked onto your course, this will allow you to learn some basics before you even arrive in resort.
This course is located in Kaprun – Zell am See, Austria – our home town. We have an amazing set up here and can offer you a course experience like nothing you could imagine, it’s epic!
You can upgrade this course to include your Snowboard Qualification to make you Dual licenced or your Landes 1 Qualification by joining our 2-in-1 Ski Instructor Course for as little as €2,000, saving over 30% on the Landes 1 Course Fees. Ask us for details.

Although SIA courses are amongst the largest in the World, we manage to maintain very intimate training groups of between 4 and 8, but with no more than 8:1 students per trainer in Austria, Argentina and France and 10:1 in Canada. This allows us to match similar ability levels per group and means no student should ever feel as if they are falling behind, or being held back because of the group they are in.
We have various options for accommodation on our courses, all of which are very comfortable. We use a combination of shared apartments, houses and chalets. There are options to to include a single room, half board meals or both! (subject to availability and supplement). See our Accommodation page for more details on your options.
