With over 8,000 acres of terrain, 200+ marked trails, 38 lifts, and an average 10 metres of snowfall each season, it is no wonder why Whistler Blackcomb has been named the best ski resort in the world on countless occasions.
As one of the greatest ski resorts in the world, Whistler offers the snow enthusiasts a huge variety of terrain that will keep you excited day after day. You could spend your entire winter here and still not have seen or skied every trail. The mountain always has more to give, allowing you to continue your skill progression as the weeks go on. The truly diverse range of shops, restaurants, bars, and activities also mean that you will never be stuck for something to do when you aren’t skiing.
If you’re looking for the best ski instructor courses in Canada, look no further. After listening to graduate feedback, we have built the new generation of ski courses and will now also be taking the 11-week course into the backcountry! Not only will you train for the AST 1 & 2, but you will also head out into the backcountry of Whistler with our experienced mountain guide team. Our ski instructor courses in Canada will improve your interpersonal skills and you will become a better communicator, while increasing your technical knowledge. As well as this, you will advance your own skiing to new heights! This extensive program will take you through the necessary training in order for you to gain your CSIA Level 1 & 2 certification allowing you to teach skiers up to intermediate parallel skill level.
You will learn how to assess and develop skiers in various terrain and tactics. The program includes technical seminars, on-going assessment of your skiing progress, weekly fun videos (see yourself on the big screen at your weekly Friday après) and a written personalised evaluation each week from one of our qualified Level 4 Pros.
On your days off you can take time to enjoy your beautiful surroundings, be it on the mountain, or in the world class resort of Whistler Blackcomb. Whistler is a huge ski town full of fun-loving life with everything you will ever need. Whistler features a host of bars, a great variety of restaurants, a cinema, and a gym. You can also enjoy the fantastic night life and extra activities such as snowmobile tours, dog sledding, zip lining, heli or cat skiing, ice hockey games, and wildlife.
** Note: The 11-week course starting in the February differs slightly as it will also include the BASI Level 2! This is an awesome choice if you are looking to also gain the BASI Level 2 certification. The BASI certification is a 2 week training course including the exam. You must successfully pass the CSIA Level 2 in order to proceed onto the BASI Level 2. You will also need to have a valid first aid certificate to sit the BASI course. If you do not have this, we can arrange for you to get this in Whistler – this program will not include AST2 and CADS.

In my opinion SIA is your only choice to become a ski instructor. For me, it was difficult to chose between all the different schools but I have never regretted the decision to choose SIA. The course was very well planned, organised and worth every dollar I paid for it.
I loved every second of it! Fantastic coaches for skiing and boarding, would definitely recommend Ski Instructor Academy to anyone thinking of becoming an instructor or furthering their instructor qualifications.
If I could go back and do it all again I would, without a doubt! Apart from the extreme goggle tan I went home with, there wasn’t any negatives. The instructors, people and area were amazing, even if you aren’t a great skier or haven’t skied at all go for it, that’s what I did and I now can proudly say I have my Landes one qualification.
The Dual Course was awesome. I made some great friends, great memories and had the best winter ever. I earned a fantastic qualification which I used all season teaching skiing and snowboarding in Austria and I have used it to teach in California too! The ski schools really do value the teaching skills and training you receive from Ski Instructor Academy

Although SIA courses are amongst the largest in the World, we manage to maintain very intimate training groups of between 4 and 8, but with no more than 8:1 students per trainer in Austria, Argentina and France and 10:1 in Canada. This allows us to match similar ability levels per group and means no student should ever feel as if they are falling behind, or being held back because of the group they are in.

There are options to to include a single room, half board meals or both! (subject to availability and supplement). See our Accommodation page for more details on your options.
